Getting Started

At Speers, one of the most common questions we are asked is, "Where do I begin”?

Whether a death has recently occurred, or you are interested in planning ahead, the process of planning a funeral is a new experience for many. That’s why we have created this step-by-step guide to Getting Started with Funeral Planning – a brief overview of the funeral planning process to help give you an idea of what to expect.

If at any time you have any questions, or require immediate assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us at no obligation.

Step 1: Contact Speers

Using our simple Preparing for Arrangements Guide, you can collect and record important information you will need for your meeting with the Funeral Director in advance, as well as submit photos you may like to use for the obituary and memorial card.

As you work through the guide, it is important to remember not to worry about getting everything done right away. Take your time and just do your best – our team at Speers is here to help you complete the rest.

Step 3: Meet with your Funeral Director

During your first visit to Speers in Regina, it is our goal to make you feel welcome and comfortable. Your Funeral Director will have the opportunity to meet you and introduce you to other members of the team who will be caring for your family over the coming days.

At Speers, we believe in the value of personalized funeral services. To help your Funeral Director guide you through the arrangement process, we would appreciate the opportunity to learn about your loved one and your family through conversation with you. These discussions are critically important in helping us provide the best possible service for your family.

Step 4: Plan the Service

From traditional to modern – and everywhere in-between - there are many options available for today’s families.

Our experienced Funeral Directors will help you learn about these options and allow you to make decisions that best suit your family’s needs. These decisions include deciding between burial and cremation, what type of service is preferred and which cemetery the family would like.

Continuing with our commitment to transparency, you will be presented with a detailed, written estimate before signing off on arrangements for your loved one.

Step 5: Select Merchandise

Funeral merchandise selection will depend largely on the service you have planned and whether you have chosen burial or cremation.

Using our online catalogue, or visiting our selection room in Regina, we invite you to browse the wide variety of options available. It is our goal to offer a wide variety of personal choices to suit the needs and budget of any family, including:
