Obituary of Janice Lee Kyle

Janice Lee Kyle passed away suddenly on Thursday, November 2, 2017 due to heart related health issues. Janice was only 56 years old. She was born in Regina, SK on May 10, 1961 to Elizabeth and Bill Kyle (both predeceased).  Janice is survived by her four siblings Joanne Fruman (Monty) of Calgary, Doris Reed (Gary) of Seattle, Bill Kyle (Cathy) of Regina and Doug Kyle (Pat) of Saskatoon; nine nieces and nephews, Kyle Remenda (Ashleigh), Rae-leen Remenda(Clay), Doug Michnick (Tammy), Lex Kress (John), Josh Reed (Judy), Arianna Reed, Courtnee Kyle (Mark), Kaylyn Kyle (Harrison), Jordy Kyle (Chantel), Will Kyle; and many great-nieces and nephews.

Janice was a very proud aunt to her nieces and nephews and, along with her mother, who passed away in 2013, she diligently followed their outstanding athletic careers - the boys in hockey and football and the girls in soccer.  Janice watched proudly as her niece, Kaylyn Kyle took to the pitch with Canada’s national Women’s soccer team and won a bronze medal at the London Olympics.

Janice grew up in Regina and attended Athabasca School and Sheldon Williams Collegiate. In her early life she was active in many sports including figure skating, speed skating, softball, water skiing and basketball to name a few. At Sheldon she was a real sharp shooter in basketball and that earned her the nickname “Gunner”, which stuck for life.

After attending Reliance Business College in Regina and the University of Winnipeg, Janice worked in a variety of businesses before finding her work family at SaskCulture where she was employed for 24 years in the capacity of Business Administrator. In her personal and professional life Janice was a generous and giving person; someone both her family and friends as well as her work colleagues (other family) could always rely on. Janice will be remembered for her capacity in caring for others and her attention to detail as well as her sharp wit.

Over the last 15 years of her life Janice devoted much of her summers to building and outfitting her cottage at Pasqua Lake - a place she enjoyed relaxing. In addition to being survived by her family members and her SaskCulture family she will also greatly missed by her dearest friend Charlene Bzdel.

A Celebration of Janice’s life will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Friday, November 17, 2017 at 1:00 p.m.
