Obituary of Margaret (Reta) Hodge Goldstone

FEBRUARY 6, 1926 – JANUARY 4, 2018

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister Margaret Goldstone, late of Regina, SK, on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at the age of 91 years, 11 months.  Margaret was predeceased by her parents John and Christina; her husband Donald; her brothers Alex, John, Bill, Jim, Chuck; her sister Nancy; her daughter-in-law Brenda and most recently her grandson Trenton Millen.  She is survived by her children Joan (Harvey) Schick, Brenda (Joe) Kochar and Perry (Donna) Goldstone; her grandchildren Sherice, Wendy, Russell, Gregory, Camille and Sydney; twelve great-grandchildren; four great-great- grandchildren; her sisters Edna (Cecil) Gemmell and Christina (Gus) Metz; sister-in- law Agnes (Bill) Stevenson; and many nieces and nephews.   Margaret was born in Curcotti, Scotland and came to Canada with her family at the age of four.  She lived in Rockglen, Kinley and Regina.  She married Donald Goldstone on October 3, 1947.  She and Donald raised their three children in the house built by Donald.  Margaret was an avid Roughrider fan, she enjoyed listening to the Pats hockey games on the radio as well as the audio novels provided by the Regina Public Library. Family was very important to Margaret and she loved spending time with them.  She recently celebrated her 90th birthday in Regina with over a hundred guests.  She will be greatly missed. Visitation for family and friends will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK, on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held Westminster United Church, 3025 13th Avenue, Regina, SK, on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. with Darrell Reine officiating. Interment to follow in Riverside Memorial Park.  Flowers most gratefully declined, however, friends so wishing may make memorial donations in Margaret’s name to the CNIB, 2550 Broad Street, Regina, SK, S4P 3Z4.
