David Betteridge

Obituary of David William Betteridge

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of David William Betteridge, late of Regina, SK at the age of 79 years. He was predeceased by his parents, James and Sarah (Annie): grandson Cole; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jim, Jack, Clifford (Marion), Kenny (Stella), and Joy (Len Rupp); brothers-in-law, Wally and Ikey Innes; and parents-in-law, Albin and Grace Jacobson. Dave is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Betty (née Jacobson); sons, Jeff (Kathy), Darren (Amanda), and Blaine (Bev); daughter Jodi (Jesse); his beloved thirteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, with a tenth on the way; sisters, Lorraine and Dorothy Innes; brother Harvey (Donna); sisters-in-law, Joyce and Ruth Betteridge and Carole Jacobson; and brother-in-law Ken (Theresa Johnson). Dave was the ultimate husband and father! His devotion to Betty, his kids, and family is unmatched. Dave was a shining example on how men should carry themselves and act. He was loved by all. He refused to judge anyone. We can honestly say, if there was someone who didn`t like Dave, we have yet to meet them. Dave would always offer a broad smile, handshake or hug when friends and relatives rolled in for a visit and the same when he was visiting away from home. The bulk of Dave`s wage paying working life was at the City of Regina. He truly enjoyed the 35 years he spent there and the friends he made. After regular working hours, Dave farmed with his brother Jim. One parcel of the land they toiled over was the family homestead (Est. 1882) in Pilot Butte. This farming way of life was ingrained in him as deep as his soul. His work ethic was beyond compare and he always placed a positive spin on any negative situation. Dave simply possessed an amazing character! We give thanks every day for him and the time we all spent together. A man that was as honourable as any saint. Memorial Service will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. Allis Chalmers and Gleaner parking directly north of the Chapel. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations in memory of Dave may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan Inc., 2550 12th Avenue, Regina, SK S4P 3X1.
