Obituary of Irene Hazel Hale

HALE, Irene - Peacefully, on September 1, 2008, Irene Hale (nee MacMillan), age 81, passed away at her home in Lumsden, SK, with family at her side. Irene is predeceased by her husband Ken and will be dearly missed and remembered by her family: daughters, Wendy (Les) Shand, Linda Thiessen, son Scott (Kathy) Hale; grandchildren, Trevor (Lauren), Stacey (Keith), Kristina (Jason), Bryan (Lindsay), Andrea (Andy), Cory, Kirsti, Kelsey; and great-grandchildren, Miller, Samantha and Sydney. Irene is survived by brothers, Ron (Carol), Doug (Marg), Aubrey (Carole), Wayne (Bev) MacMillan; sister Jeanette (Bob) Thomson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Irene and her husband moved to Lumsden, from Saskatoon, in 1977, where they both became very active community members. Irene volunteered many hours to the Lumsden hockey arena, Duck Derby, and Dew Drop Inn. She was an avid gardener and golfer and was well known for her knitting skills, lovingly knitting items for family and donating others to support the Lumsden Senior Center. At Irene's request, no service will be held and flowers are gratefully declined. Irene's ashes will be interred with her husband in a private family event to be held at a later date. The family would like to thank the nurses of Palliative Home Care for all their care and support. If desired, donations in Irene's memory can be made to the Regina Qu'Appelle Health Region Palliative Care Services Unit, the Lumsden Hockey Arena or to the Lumsden Dew Drop Inn Seniors Centre.
