Obituary of Beryl Elsie Beryl Shields

SHIELDS, BERYL - Our dearly loved wife, mom, grandmother, great-grandmother passed away with family at her side on Monday, September 1, 2008 at the age of 88. She was predeceased by her first born, Spence; her parents John (Jack) and Emma Maude (Dot) Spence; and her great-granddaughter Emma. She will be sadly missed by her family, her devoted husband of 61 years, Alex; her children: Heather (Rod) Banda, Sandra (Neil) Sherwin-Shields, Debbie (Bob) Medak, Gord (June) Shields, and Joy Jones; grandchildren: Jep (Treena), Jody (Jaci), Lindy (Terry), Jackie (Ryan), Brandi (yvind), Tyler, Jodi (Trent), Jackie, Vince (Sharon), Jason (Tangelyn), Tamara (Dean), Tina, Cory (Mandy), and Christi (Matt); great-grandchildren: Madison, McKinley, Emilia, Easton, Kai, Zac, Taia, Tessa, Sander, Brett, Cale, Kendra, Tanner, Summer, Kohl, Keanna, Anakin, Drake, Brooke, Douce, Sofie, and Charley; her sisters: Edith, Rea, Alice, Arvilla, and Edna; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Beryl was a very active woman who loved to travel, dance, curl, bowl, and play darts. She was an involved member of St. John's Ambulance and the Rebeccas for many years. Her greatest thrill in life was being with Alex and her children, the joy she felt at the births of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Family was her life. Her sweet smile, her gentle touch and a heart so full of love will be forever cherished. A Service of Remembrance will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, September 5, 2008 with Pastor Jep Banda officiating. Interment of ashes to be held Saturday, September 6, 2008 at 11:30 a.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery, Weyburn, SK. In lieu of flowers, donations in Beryl's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 1910 McIntyre Street, Regina, SK, S4P 2R3.
