Astrid Christina Jansonn was born in Crestwynd, Saskatchewan on Christmas Eve 1929. Neighbours were excited when they heard the Jansonn's had received a special Christmas gift that talked. Everyone thought they had gotten a radio'. In 1929 radios were scarcer than babies. Astrid lost her Mom (Charlotte) and her brother Cyril who was in the Air Force before she turned 15. Her Dad (Aaron) who hailed from Sunne, Sweden was the apple of her eye. Astrid attended Luther College and then returned home to work in the Post Office in her Dad's service station. The Greyhound buses would stop there and want some of Astrid's great apple pie. She met her husband Ed at a dance at Temple Gardens in Moose Jaw. They were married in St. Andrew's Church in 1953 and moved to Ontario where all of their children were born. In 1960 they moved to Regina and lived in the Lakeview area. Astrid loved children and lived for her children and grandchildren. She valued individuality, was soft spoken, big hearted and artistic. In high school she won prizes at the fair for her art work and continued to oil paint, draw and do crafts. She loved kids and spent many hours with her grandkids and taught Messengers at Lakeview Church. She loved music and dancing. She played the violin and piano.
