EDYTHE BOYD

1916 – 2017

Edythe passed away on Friday, June 30, 2017. She was born on the family farm south-west of Findlater, the youngest of seven children. Edythe rode horseback to school and also to the hunting lodge in Buffalo Pound Valley before the lake was in existence. She was a telephone operator for twenty four years and a village secretary for twenty one years. Edythe kept books for many organizations; UCW, church, sports committees, telephone companies, and hall boards. She was an SGIO agent for twenty years and also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary as well as various clubs when she lived in Moose Jaw. While living in Regina, Edythe worked as the switchboard operator at the Hotel Saskatchewan and while in Lloydminster she was the General Manager of the hotel. Edythe married Patrick Hehir in 1937 and they had three children, Pat, Reta, and Bob. She married Bev Boyd in 1974. Edythe was predeceased by her husbands, Pat and Bev; son-in-law Dave;  granddaughter-in-law Lisa Duncan; and her six siblings. Edythe is survived by her children, Pat Schneider, Reta (Bob) Duncan, and Bob (Donna) Hehir; eight grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She spent the last six years of her life in the Craik and District Health Centre where she was very well cared for. Many thanks from the family to the staff at Craik!
