Obituary of Katharina Baer

MARCH 18, 1934 – JULY 5, 2017

Katharina passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2017. She was predeceased by her parents Vinzent and Katharina Baer; sister Rosalia Baer; aunt Otillia Berger; and brother-in-law Gustav Medl. Katharina is survived by her sister Eugenia Medl; nieces, Anita (Jim) Medl, Karin (Murray) Bertalon; nephews, Andy (Kimberly) Medl and Edwin Medl; and great-nieces and nephews, Channing, Santanna, Karissa, Connor and Jaxen. Katharina was born on March 18, 1934 in Alescandrowka/Nikolajeu Ukraine (USSR). After surviving WW II she ended up in a displaced persons camp in Bersenbruck, Germany. Katharina immigrated to Canada in 1956, she worked various jobs until being hired in the Hospital Laundry Services where she worked until 1994. She enjoyed her co-workers and kept in contact with them through her twenty three years of retirement. Katharina had many interests; fine needle work, cooking, entertaining and gardening, but her greatest joy was spending time with family and friends. She especially loved her trips to Europe to visit relatives. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the following: her lovely neighbors James, Michael, Virginia, and Doug who helped her through the years, her very special friend Giovannina (Nina), the Regina Cardiology Associates, the wonderful staff on Ward 3F and the staff at Cardiac Catheterization Lab at the Regina General Hospital. Prayers will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Monday, July 10, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at Little Flower R.C. Church, 420 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. Rev. Jose Periyilkatte Celebrant. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park. Flowers gratefully declined.
