ROLLIE KUNTZ

April 15, 1953 – July 8, 2017

Rollie Kuntz had a mischievous streak. As a child, he ran away from home with his cousin Doug, he hid beer and cigarettes under his bed as a teen, and as a father, he wasn’t above cheating at board games despite his obvious tell, a cheeky grin, and ready laugh. He was an accomplished air guitarist, first playing along with John Lennon as the Beatles played the Ed Sullivan show. Later in life, those who shared some fun with Rollie, enjoyed his talents to the tunes of Waylon Jennings or the Traveling Wilburys. Many hours were spent playing ‘Name That Tune’ while watching CMT with his daughter Jenn as they challenged each other on their country music knowledge. He was a food connoisseur, always willing to try new dishes, but never finding one that could surpass Grannie’s perogies, his good friend Karen’s chicken and dumplings, or a steak cooked by his son, Mark. Rollie attended O’Neill High School and completed a Queen’s Executive MBA program. He was a competitive athlete, played and coached hockey, baseball and football and later became an avid golfer. He was green and white to the core and volunteered for many years for the Roughriders Plaza of Honour Dinner. Rollie enjoyed his long career in the transportation industry, working his way into management and human resources, but relished retired life and winters in Mexico (even practicing his Spanish in his final days). Retirement also gave Rollie more time at Regina Beach with his best friends Pete and Karen McGeady. He was predeceased by his parents, Adam (Tom) and Ethel Kuntz; wife Rae; and Golden Retriever, Beau. Rollie leaves behind a family who loved him deeply: his children, Rollie (Jen) Ermel, Jenn (Mark) MacDuff, and Mark (Heather) Kuntz; his partner Cindy Hinger and her children Jarred and Tayler (Taenelle); his brothers and sisters, Deb (Bob) Poncelet, Murray (Jean) Kuntz, and Sue (Lawrence) Matchett; his many nieces and nephews; and extended family and special friends. Celebration of Life will be held at Speers Family Centre, 2333 Cornwall Street, Regina, SK on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. Family and friends so wishing may make donations, in memoriam, to the Canadian Cancer Society, 1910 McIntyre Street, Regina, SK S4P 2R3 or to a charity of choice.
