Obituary of Hildegarde Justina Munro

Hilda (nee Grohs) passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 6, 2011 at the age of 86. Predeceased by her father John and mother Mary; her beloved husband Thomas in 1996; brothers John, Joseph and Michael and sister Hedwig, she is survived by her sister Erma (Chess) (Gerald) Dempsey and numerous nieces and nephews. Born and raised in Dysart, SK, Hilda received her schooling in Dysart and following her graduation from Grey Nuns School of Nursing in 1947 she was employed at the Pasqua Hospital (formerly Grey Nuns) as Head Nurse in Emergency until her retirement in 1963. Hilda was a gentle soul who loved to cook and bake, enjoyed reading, was exceptionally skilled at petit point and will be remembered for her generous nature and her love of animals, especially cats. She maintained many long-term friendships throughout her life. At Hildas request, a private service for immediate family was held. Those wishing to make a donation in Hildas memory may do so to a charity of choice. Hildas family gratefully acknowledges and is thankful for the compassionate care provided by the nurses and Dr. Kish Lyster on floor 5F of RGH. The life of a soul on earth lasts beyond departure.
