Obituary of Kenneth Alan Nichols

Ken passed away peacefully with his family by his side after a short and courageous battle with cancer. Ken was predeceased by his father Charles Oscar Nichols in 2005. Ken is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Bonnie; four daughters Pamela (Cory) Gelsinger, Kristin (Christopher) Matravolgyi, Megan (Kyle) Nichols, Whitney (Justin) Beug; three grandchildren Belle, Mason and Kherington; mother Bertha Janet Nichols; mother-in-law Lily Irene Callander all of Regina; two sisters Sharon (Bruce) of Biggar, Sue (Ron) of Pritchard, BC; brother-in-law Bob (Doreen) Callander of Saskatoon; faithful companion Dakota; his extended Callander family Audrey, Len (Joy), Ron (Mona) and Mary (Don deceased); and numerous nieces and nephews. Ken was born in Saskatoon and raised in Regina. He attended Connaught public school, where he met his wife Bonnie, and graduated from Sheldon Williams Collegiate. Ken started working at Inland Concrete in 1974 as batcher/dispatcher and progressed to area operation manager. Ken was involved with the Sundown Optimist Club, Regina Construction Association, Regina Homebuilders and was President of the Saskatchewan Ready Mixed Concrete Association. Ken was an avid sports fan who enjoyed curling, golfing and especially supporting the Saskatchewan Roughriders. He had a secret passion for classic cars (corvettes) and cooking. He loved to travel and looked forward to retirement. Ken had a large impact on many lives and expressed a deep commitment to help others. His love of family and friends were truly his greatest gift. Ken will be missed by many. The family would like to thank the staff at the Pasqua Hospital Unit 3B for the care provided for their loved one. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Kens memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 1910 McIntyre Street, Regina, SK S4P 2R3 or a charity of your choice.
