Obituary of Francis James Michael Ortman

Fran passed away on Monday, March 14, 2011 at the age of 63. He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Lydia Ortman; two sisters, Eva Zaron and Margaret (at birth); and three brothers, William (Sybil), Leonard (Vicki) and Mervyn (Doreen). Fran is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Sharon; his daughters, Suzanne and Nicole (Derek); brothers, Andy (Beth), Wilf, Leo (Carol) and his sister, Arlene (Willie) Elek; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. Fran started life as the New Years baby of 1948 for the city of Regina. He loved and played sports and made many lasting friendships. The Montreal Canadiens, the New York Yankees and the Saskatchewan Roughriders all had Fran as a proud supporter. Fran spent forty years in Telecommunications, first with Northern Telecom, then with SaskTel until his retirement in 2004. He made many friendships that also lasted his lifetime. Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Family RC Church, 1021 McCarthy Blvd, Regina on Thursday, March 17, 2011 at 11:00 am with the Very Rev. Brad Fahlman presiding. A private family interment will take place at a later date in Riverside Memorial Park. Fran was a very private person. It was his wish that only his family was aware of his illness.
