Obituary of Joseph Philip Kot

On Sunday, April 24, 2011, Joseph Joe,? age 89, passed away peacefully at the Pasqua Hospital with his family by his side. Joe was predeceased by his parents, Philip and Helen (Warwaruk) Kot; step-father Joseph Neiszner; and brother John Albert Kot. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Alyce Minette Bunny?, and his children: Joan (Barrie) Parker of Hawaii and their children Allison (fianc Sam Plotkin) and Andrew all of Los Angeles; Gerry (Colleen) of Regina and their children Jennifer (Jordan) Buchko and Erin, all of Saskatoon; Brian (Jane Rooney) of Calgary and their children James of Vancouver, Stephanie of Calgary and Julia of Vancouver; Nancy (Robin Hill) and their children Christopher and Carly, all of Regina; and Dave (Tracy) and their children Owen and Ingrid, all of Regina. He is also survived by his brothers, Stephen (Kay) of Ottawa and Michael (Josie) of Vancouver, as well as many nieces and nephews. Joe was born on the farm near McTaggart, Saskatchewan on December 23, 1921. He attended the University of Saskatchewan where he received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1949. He worked as the Director of Safety Services for the provincial government and also held various positions in the safety field with the federal government. Joe enjoyed hunting, fishing, square dancing, bridge, wintering in Texas, summering at Regina Beach, but mostly he loved his family. He was known as the neighbourhood fix-it man? and was always willing to share his talents. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Annes RC Church, 1701 Cowan Crescent, Regina on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Ken Koep presiding. Interment will follow immediately in Riverside Memorial Park. The family would like to thank Drs. Peter VanRooyen, Winston Lok, Martin Heroux and N. Jacobsz, the nursing staff at the Pasqua Hospital on Units 4A, Cardiac Surveillance and Emergency, as well as the staff at Sunset Extendicare. Your compassionate care for Dad and our family was much appreciated. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan Inc., 301 2550 12th Avenue, Regina, S4P 3X1.
