Obituary of Emily Matthewson

Emily, late of Regina, Saskatchewan, passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2011. Predeceased by her grandmother Bulah May Matthewson, Emily is survived by her loving parents, Lorie and Bruce Matthewson and older sister Leah of Regina; her grandparents, Joyce and Paul Schmidt of Regina; Darlene and James Hillis and cousins Samuel, Benjamin, Gabrielle, Zachary of Regina; Rosanne and John Goetz and cousins Virginia, Madeleine, Thomas of Calgary, AB; Linda and Ken Baynes and their families of Regina. Emily had been involved in numerous activities from an early age. She shared a love for all sports, in particular softball, volleyball, basketball and hockey. Following in her sisters footsteps, she was named the LeBoldus High School 2010 Female Athlete of the Year. Emily focused on fun, hard work and good sportsmanship. She was actively involved in the Best Buddies program at her school and also enjoyed performing with the school drama club. She was a shining star who excelled at everything she did and always offered kind words and support to her teammates. Emily had just completed her first year in the Faculty of Education at the University of Regina and had planned to follow in her Moms footsteps and become a teacher. Emily was enjoying her work at Earls Restaurant as it allowed her to meet new people and make new friends as she loved to do. Over her short life she touched many peoples hearts with her smile, sparkling blue eyes and wonderful, caring personality. She was charismatic, carefree and fun to be with. Emily loved her family, her friends and life. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Resurrection Roman Catholic, 3155 Windsor Park Road, Regina Saskatchewan on Thursday, May 5, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Stephen Bill presiding. Following the Mass, the family welcomes everyone to join us in a Celebration of Emilys Life in the church. Flowers most gratefully declined.
