Obituary of Edith Beatrice Jane Bomphray

Edith Bomphray passed away peacefully at Solace Care Home in Regina on Tuesday, May 24, 2011, at age 95. Born in Findlater, Saskatchewan, Edith was predeceased by husband George Bomphray; son Clinton Bomphray; and sister Brenda Murtsell. She is survived by son Keith Bomphray and daughter Shelley Bomphray of Regina; daughter Karen Robson, daughter-in-law Susan Cantan and sister Celia Royce of Toronto; brother Brian Ball of Nanaimo, British Columbia; as well as her faithful friends Kim Korven and children of Regina; and numerous nieces and nephews. Edith and her late husband George were instrumental in creating and organising Buffalo Days in Regina and participated in such community events for many years. She was also an avid curler and Roughrider supporter. She worked for the Saskatchewan Provincial Government and after retirement worked a further several years at People's Jewellers in Regina, quickly becoming their top salesperson. Well known for her sense of style and modish clothes, she modelled in local fashion shows into her seventies. Edith loved to travel and visited Barbados, Jamaica, Hawaii, Australia, Grand Cayman, Panama and many parts of Canada and the United States. Further to her wishes, cremation will take place and no funeral service will be held. Should anyone wish to make a donation in her memory, a deserving recipient would be Bright Eyes Dog Rescue of Regina (brighteyesdogrescue.com). Edith's late beloved dog Jack was a rescued animal and they spent many happy years together. To leave an online message of condolence, please visit www.speersfuneralchapel.com
