Obituary of John Hesketh

John passed away peacefully with his wife Mary at his side on Friday, July 15, 2011 at Pioneer Village in Regina at age 89. Predeceased by his parents, John and Alice Hesketh; sisters, Alice and husband Bill, and Ethel and husband Bert, all late of England. He leaves to mourn his loving wife of 69 years, Mary; and sons, Peter and wife Lynn of White Rock, BC, Terry and wife Bohdanna of Toronto, ON; grandchildren, Markian and Taisa of Toronto; as well as numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews. Born in Liverpool, England on November 2, 1921, John joined the Royal Air Force in 1936 at the age of 15. His Air Force career took him to Moose Jaw in 1940, where he met Mary Davidson. They were married in 1942 and returned to England shortly after. Two sons, Peter and Terry were born in England and the family returned to Moose Jaw in 1952 after John had served 16 years in the Royal Air Force. John joined National Light and Power (later Saskatchewan Power) in 1953. His career with Saskatchewan Power took him to Regina, Humboldt, Saskatoon and back to Regina where he retired in 1982. During his life, in England and Canada, John was active in numerous organizations including the Anglican Church, the Air Force Association of Canada, Masonic Order, Scottish Rite Bodies and the Wa Wa Shrine. John was a Past Secretary of the Royal Order of Scotland, Past Impresario of the Royal Order of Jesters and Past Recorder of Wa Wa Temple A.A.O.N.M.S. John had many interests. He loved spending time in his greenhouse and garden, enjoyed many winters in Hawaii, took pleasure in his morning round of golf with friends in Regina and enjoyed his fly-in fishing trips to Northern Saskatchewan.
