Obituary of Dorene Mentiplay

Dorene passed away at the Pasqua Hospital, surrounded by her family, the evening of Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at the age of 84 years. Predeceased by her parents, Howard and Legia Argue, and brother Senator Hazen Argue; Dorene is survived by her husband Iain Mentiplay; son Brian (Lauren) Mentiplay; daughter Alison Mentiplay; sister Lucille (Ernie) Kroeker; sister-in-law Jean Argue; and her nephew and nieces. She was born in Avonlea, Saskatchewan on October 18, 1926. She obtained a certificate in Pharmacy at the University of Saskatchewan and, after further studies, qualified as a Laboratory Technician. She lived with and cared for her mother in Regina until 1966 when she married Iain Mentiplay, whom she had met while teaching Sunday School. Following their wedding, she and Iain resided in Kerrobert, where Iain already had an established law practice, and Brian and Alison were born. Dorene was active in the United Church Womens group and the Kinettes Club. In 1973, Dorene moved with her family to Saskatoon where Dorene continued her involvement with the church and Kinettes Club. In 1979, the family moved to Regina, and she became involved with the Churchs Ladies Group, her weekly bridge group and she led the Bible Study and Prayer Group until she became ill. An active member of the Sons of Scotland, she was recently honored for her service to that organization. She was always very supportive of her husband and family. She truly cared for others and was an inspiration to everyone who knew her.
