Obituary of Dale Ronald Waithman

Dale passed away after nearly 2 years courageously struggling with cancer. He was predeceased by his parents, Ron and Belle Waithman; sister-in-law Bernice Waithman and granddaughter Grace Hein. Dale is survived by his wife of nearly 39 years, Kathy; his two daughters, Shauna (Peter) Hein and Kendall (Adam) Rutherford; his precious grandchildren, Tyson and Carter Rutherford, and Aubrey and Kinsley Hein; brother David (Vivian) Waithman and family; brothers-in-law, Neil, Ken, and Alan (Barb) Petersen and family. Dale was an extremely hard worker and was a jack of all trades,? ready to help anyone who needed him. For many years he owned and operated a landscaping business. A very capable carpenter, Dale also did home renovations. A lover of nature and animals, he also operated a successful elk ranch. Dale was very community orientated and sat on various committees. He was VP of the Saskatchewan Elk Breeders Association and spent the last two years as counselor in the RM of Lajord. He always felt very lucky to have so many wonderful friends and people who respected him. Dale retired in 2006 as a Captain after 33 years with the Regina Fire Department. He was extremely honored when the Kronau and District Emergency Response Committee named the new fire hall in his honor the KADER Waithman Firehall. Dale worked hard but also enjoyed life to the fullest. He took great pride in his work as evident by his beautiful yard on the acreage. He loved the outdoors and was an avid camper, golfer and looked forward to taking annual winter vacations. His friends were always welcome and he loved to entertain. For all his many accomplishments, his greatest pride and joy was his grandchildren and he would tell anyone who asked about grandchildren, if he knew they were that much fun, he would have had them first.? He was ours and we loved him. A Memorial Service for Dale will be held at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1909 Ottawa Street, Regina on Friday, July 29, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Lindsay Hognestad officiating. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park. A heartfelt thank you goes out to our wonderful friends who have always been there for us throughout his struggle. We would also like to thank the staff from the Oncology and Surgical units of the Pasqua Hospital. A special thank you to the compassionate doctors and nurses in the Palliative Unit at the Pasqua Hospital where he spent his final days. Your kindness to him and to our family is much appreciated.
