Obituary of Edgar Adolph Switzer

His family is sad to announce the passing of Ed on Friday, July 29, 2011 at the Pasqua Hospital after a courageous struggle with cancer and COPD. He was predeceased by his father Gustavus Switzer and his mother Mary Switzer as well as aunts, uncles and cousins. Left to cherish his memory are, his brother James (Myrna) Switzer; niece Sherie (Stephen) Blayone; nephew Michael (Heather) Switzer; great-nieces Meika and Kieryn; and great-nephews Ryan and Jake. He also leaves behind his aunt Marj Schweitzer of Vernon, BC; cousins Marlene (Jerry) Chernick and Lorraine (Ross Seaman); and many other cousins across the country. Ed grew up in Regina and lived his whole life here. Those who knew Ed know that he lived life to the fullest and he lived exactly as he? chose. He worked as a mechanic most of his adult years at Lakeside Chrysler. Ed was a man who enjoyed many activities, especially reading, gardening, archery, golfing, TV, nature and documentary programs. Mostly he liked to have fun with the children in his extended family. He embraced life with a positive and passionate outlook and we will miss him immensely. The family of Edgar would like to thank Hope & Charity Care Home for their dedication to Eds care and the staff of 4C at the Pasqua Hospital. A Celebration of Eds life will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina on Monday, August 8, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Jim Balfour officiating. A private family interment will take place. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Allan Blair Cancer Centre, #304-3775 Pasqua Street, Regina, SK, S4S 6W8.
