Obituary of Garnet Holtzmann, Q.C.

Garnet passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, August 3, 2011. Predeceased by his parents, Herbert and Christine, Garnet is survived by his loving wife Susan; his children with his first wife and lifelong friend, Marion Holtzman; daughter Marina; son, Lynn (Debbie Brazeau) and his children Kelly and Brandon, and son, Scott (Sheila) and their children Alexander, Mackenzie and Kiefer; stepdaughter Meredith LaRocque and her son Aleks; and stepson Matt Matty? LaRocque. After graduating City Park Collegiate in Saskatoon, Garnets love for sports took him to play for the Saskatoon Hilltops for three years and a lifetime support for the team. Garnets professional life began as a policeman, working in both Regina and Saskatoon. He continued his journey, obtaining a law degree (with Distinction) from the University of Saskatchewan in 1962 and subsequently joining the Department of the Attorney General. He worked through the Thatcher to Romanow governments until his retirement in 1992. His love for the family farm in Neudorf was only equaled by his passion for sports. Garnet was also instrumental in founding the Saskatchewan Tae Kwon Do Association. Lovingly remembered by his family and friends, a Memorial Service will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park. Flowers gratefully declined. To leave an online message of condolence, please visit www.speersfuneralchapel.com
