Obituary of Peter John Dennis

Peter, the beloved son of Rose Dennis and beloved brother of Fred (Vicky), Jerome, Wesley (Brenda), and Barry (fiance Janie) who died so tragically on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at 4:10 a.m. He was predeceased by his father John; his grandparents, Joseph and Mary Matt and Joseph and Justine Dennis; his sister Marlene and brother Raymond. Peter is survived by nieces, Rendi, Abby and Amy Dennis, Rachel Hunt and Delsey Campbell (Vanessa, Kory and Jenny) and nephews Evan and Donovan Dennis, Joel Thomas and Zachary Kolodniski. Peter was born July 22, 1967 in Regina, at the then Grey Nuns Hospital. He went to Athabasca School and graduated from Sheldon Williams Collegiate. He was also an altar boy at Christ The King Church. He was an avid hockey player, and played in the city league for five years. He enjoyed it very much and never missed a game. He was always there for practices and in turn received an award for his dedication. One time, the team went out of town for a tournament and won one game 10 to 1. Peter played defence, but who scored all 10 goals? Peter did! The coach said it was so awesome and unbelievable, so he received another trophy that year. His first job was a Leader Post carrier and he also worked at Pepsi Company. Peter loved working on old cars and got his first car, a Valiant, when he was 16 years old. He was so excited he was just glowing. He then later bought his first truck. His love of automobiles took him into mechanics where he attended SIAST and received his Automotive Service Technician. Peter worked for Don Wiens and later found a home at Bob Grants Auto Service. He worked in mechanics for a span of 8 years and then decided to go for his lifelong dream of becoming a police officer. He applied at the Regina Police Service and was accepted. He went through training and graduated in 2003. Peter loved his job as a police officer and he really enjoyed training the new rookie officers. Peter was living a full life with his love for his job and his passion for old cars that he would fix up and drive and then pass onto others to enjoy. He entered into many car shows in Regina and the United States and won many trophies. He was currently restoring a 1948 Chevrolet from just a rusty old frame to hopefully become a beautiful, finished car. Peter loved his family and attended as many family events as he could. He was always there with his quiet sense of humour and a smile. He always listened to everyone to find out what they were doing in their lives. Peter will be dearly missed as a son, brother, brother in law, uncle and friend. Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Child RC Church, 2636 7th Avenue East, Regina, SK on Friday August 26, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Lorne Crozon presiding. Interment to follow in Regina Cemetery (4th Avenue and Broad Street). In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Big Brothers/Big Sisters or a charity of choice. Safe in the arms of Jesus.
