Obituary of Flora Fahlman

Flora finished her lifes work on Monday, August 22, 2011, 15 days short of her 99th birthday. Mom was born on September 6, 1912 on a farm in the Frankslake/Balgonie area. She resided in the area until retiring with Herman to Balgonie. For the last number of years, she has resided at the Queen Victoria Estates in Regina. Flora was predeceased by her parents Louis and Amelia (Tackman) Sellar; husband and the father of her children Herman A.M. Siebert (1976); her second husband Chris Fahlman (1990); all of her siblings and their spouses: Harry (Kate Binder) Sellar (1966), Agnes Sellar (1916), John Sellar (1965), Herbie Sellar (1916), Ella (Paul) Zimmerman (1996), and Ethel (Albert) Boris (2003). Mom leaves to mourn and celebrate her life; 3 daughters: Phyllis (Robert) JENSEN, Nadine (Gordon) ROY, and Myrna (Darrell/Butch) BRIDGES; 8 grandchildren: Karen (Larry) Tehse, Blaine Jensen, Mark (Sheila) Jensen; Michael (Silvana) Roy, Cheryl (Chris) Ficek; and Ian, Nicole and Kelly-Lynn Bridges; 8 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends. Mom set an example of strength that her children and grandchildren will be unlikely to match or to forget. She always had a positive outlook on life and would often say, I just take it one day at a time." Many will remember Mom for her homemade bread, excellent crochet work, quilting, gardening, Sunday suppers and immaculate house. In later years, Mom loved to pass her time doing crossword puzzles, playing a lively game of cards, mastering the game of bridge at 88 and watching curling and the Blue Jays on TV. Her greatest love was her grandchildren. Mom attended many birthdays, baptisms, confirmations, graduations, weddings, and as many hockey and ball games as she could for all of her grandchildren until a few years ago when she was no longer able to travel. A Visitation will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina on Friday, August 26, 2011 fron 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Celebration of Floras Life will take place at St. Johns Lutheran Church (6 miles north of Balgonie on Highway #364) on Saturday, August 27, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Boyd Molder officiating. Interment to follow in St. Johns Cemetery, then a lunch at the Balgonie Senior Citizens Centre in Balgonie.
