Obituary of Monte Cottingham

Monte passed away suddenly on Saturday, August 27, 2011 at the age of 83. He is predeceased by his parents Ross and Agnes; brothers Elbert and Robert; sisters Venice Cottingham and Bertine Nicholas; nephews Rodney and Stuart; and niece Joylene. Monte is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Bernice; daughter Heather Canevaro of Humboldt, SK; grandchildren Tony, Jeff, Charity Mills, Theresa Pederson; 14 great-grandchildren; and 12 nieces and nephews. Monte worked for 35 years in the Milestone School division. He enjoyed creating art in his woodworking shop. Monte and Bernice were regular fixtures in the regions flea market and farmers market where lucky shoppers purchased his woodworking. Monte spent his whole life in the Milestone area except for one year building dams in the east. Montes passions included everything outdoors. He loved hunting, fishing and camping. Many months were spent at the lake and many friends were made. In his later years Monte became more and more focused on his golf game and was working in his wood shop until the very end. Memorial Service will be held at Milestone United Church, on Thursday, September 1, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Tim Ellis officiating. Interment in Regina Memorial Gardens.
