Obituary of Alvin Stephens

Alvin passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 14, 2011. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Lydia; sisters Gladys (Mel) Moonie; Pearl (Bert) Myers; Ruby (Walter) Large; Rubys 1st husband David Meikle; brothers Harold and Norman. Alvin will be greatly missed by his wife Beryl Stephens, son Dave (Wanda) Stephens; grandchildren Sean and Melissa; brother Bert; niece Dorothy (Ervin) Baber and family; niece Barbara (Clifford) Krieger and family; sisters in law Jean Meikle, Marion Meikle (Hugh - predeceased); brother in law Roy Meikle (June - predeceased); and his many nephews, nieces and friends. Alvin was born September 16, 1920 on the home farm. He attended Violette School through the 1930s, then worked on the home farm 4 miles north of Balcarres. Alvin trucked for Dave Meikle until 1942 when he enlisted in the army. Alvin was overseas with the VIII RECCE regiment and was discharged in 1946. Alvin was an Imperial Oil Bulk Agent for 34 years. Alvin will be remembered for his love of family and friends. A private family interment will be held at a later date. Flowers gratefully declined.
