Obituary of Victoria Hnatchuk

Victoria passed away peacefully on Monday, April 25, 2011 with her daughter, son-in-law, grandchildren and great-grandchildren by her side in the William Booth Special Care Home. Born November 30, 1916, Victoria was 94 years old. She was predeceased by her husband Michael; mother Anne; father Michael Metro?; brother Paul (Kay) Stanicky; sisters, Mary (Joseph) Kevol and Tina Stanicky. Victoria is survived by her daughter Florence (Roy) Shaver; grandson Allen (Shawnie) Shaver; granddaughter Arlene (Kevin) Grams; great-grandchildren Alyssa and Michael Shaver and Joseph Grams; numerous nieces and nephews; and her very special friends, Audrey (Harold) Keil, Vicki Renner and Myrtle Kowalchuk. Special thanks to Dr. Bob Babchuk, Dr. Zaman, Dr. Geddes and all the RNs, LPNs and staff at the William Booth Care Home for their care, support and friendship since March 15, 2009. Mom enjoyed dancing, cooking, baking buns and bread, playing cards and all types of LP records including Ukrainian, country, hymns, inspiration and old time music. Significant events in her life were having family get-togethers for all occasions. Victoria worked at Burns and was a homemaker and caregiver in her home for 27 years. Requiem (Panachyda) will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina on Friday, April 29, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Rite will take place at Descent of the Holy Spirit Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 1305 12th Avenue, Regina on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. with the Very Rev. Archpriest Slawomir Lomaszkiewicz officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the William Booth Special Care Home, 50 Angus Road, Regina, SK, S4R 8P6.
