Obituary of William Farley

WILLIAM M. FARLEY January 26, 1932 - May 5, 2011 Bill passed away at home at the age of 79 years. He was predeceased by his parents, Roy and Muriel Farley; brother James; and sister Elinor. Bill is survived by his loving wife Lil; his beloved children, Rhonda, James and Lesley (Alex; his sons Simon and Jasper); and his twin sister Ina. He is also survived by his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Olga and Herb Schmeling; nephew Donald Schmeling (Lenore; children Conrad, Michael (Laura) and Matthew); niece Leanne Morris (Dave; children Jessica, Michelle and Natalie) and other relatives and many friends who meant the world to him. Prior to commencing a life devoted to farming, he attended the School of Agriculture at the University of Saskatchewan, studied drafting at Balfour Technical School and attended the Mason City Auctioneering School in Iowa, U.S.A. Bill had a strong belief in contributing to his community, church and the agricultural industry. He was active in numerous agricultural organizations. In recognition of his extensive involvement in the agricultural industry he received a number of awards. One award that he was very proud of was his induction into the Saskatchewan Agricultural Hall of Fame in 1998. He was a member of the King Hiram Lodge #104, Scottish Rite and the WaWa Shriners. Bill loved to read, travel and was an avid sports fan, especially the Saskatchewan Roughriders and the sport of curling. He attended 10 World Curling Championships with his daughter Rhonda, and in April was fortunate to be able to attend the Gold Medal game at the Men's World Curling Championship in Regina. The Celebration of Bill's Life will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at 3:30 p.m. A private family interment will take place at a later date.
