Obituary of Trifon Agioritis

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, papou, brother and uncle. Dad passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on July 13, 2011 at the age of 78 after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Dad was born in Vothona, Santorini, Greece on April 10, 1933. He immigrated to Canada in 1960, and in 1962 he married the love of his life Kasiani. Shortly after coming to Canada, Dad and his brothers co-founded the Boston Pizza franchise. In the 1970s, Dad ventured into business on his own and proudly started the Trifons Pizza franchise with locations in Saskatchewan and Eastern Canada. Upon retirement, Dad loved nothing more than to watch his grandchildren play and to sit in his backyard and garden which he felt was paradise on Earth. Dad was pre-deceased by his father Evagelos (1963); mother Margarita (2005); and brother-in-law Antonis Koutsoulis (2005). He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years Kasiani; daughter Margarita (Michael) Parisone; his sons, Von (Marlo), George, John (Sandra); as well as his 12 grandchildren, Linda, Kasiani, Tyler, Erica, Trifon, Hannah, Kasiani, Trifon, Maria, Elias, Zoe and Lydia. Papou was very proud of all of his grandchildren. Dad is also survived by his siblings, George (Dina), Gus (Lola), Nina (Kosta), Perry (Irene), Anna (Peter), and Nino (Kathy); as well as his father-in-law and mother-in-law George and Despina Roumanos, sister-in-law Matina Koutsoulis, brothers-in-law, Dimitrios (Eleni) Roumanos, Nick (Yiota) Roumanos, and Kosta (Elvira) Theodorakakis; as well as his many nieces and nephews. Prayer Service will be held at St. Pauls Greek Orthodox Church, 3000 Argyle Road, Regina on Sunday, July 17, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. The Funeral Service will take place on Monday July 18, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Pauls Greek Orthodox Church with Reverend Father Spiridon Vandoros officiating. Interment in Regina Memorial Gardens. Dads immediate family would like to thank all of his special caregivers, particularly all the nurses on 3B, ICU and The Allan Blair Clinic, whose efforts made Dads battle with cancer much more manageable. Special thanks to Dr. Mahmud, Dr. Kakumanu, Dr. Dubai, Dr. Jones and Dr. Keyes. We know that dad was in terrific hands. As well, we would like to say a big thank you to Father Spiro who has helped our family so much during this last week with his spiritual guidance. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Pauls Greek Orthodox Church, 3000 Argyle Road, Regina, SK, S4S 2B2; the Canadian Cancer Society, 1910 McIntyre Street, Regina, SK, S4P 2R3; or The Heart and Stroke Foundation, 379 3rd Avenue North, Saskatoon, SK, S7K 2H8.
