Obituary of Leonard Merlyn Scheibel

Leonard, late of Wilcox, SK, passed away after a very dignified battle with cancer on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 with his family surrounding him. He was predeceased by his parents, Philip and Helene Scheibel and son David Paul. Leonard is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jean; son Bob; son Doug (Michelle), Joshua, Levi and Rachel; daughter Lauri Schmidt (Darrell), Zachary, Jacob, Alexandra and Cassidy; daughter Sandra Nicholson (Angus), David, and son Jim. He is also survived by his brothers, Eugene Scheibel and Gerald Scheibel (Norah); his sister Marilyn Naylen (Gerald); and his in-laws, Jim Kambeitz (Jeanette), Gerry Kambeitz (Jeannie), Geraldine Erickson (Bryce), Jack Kambeitz (Bev), Marilyn Blondeau, and Mike Kambeitz (Debbie). He was very proud of his God-children, Shelley Kambeitz, Michael Scheibel, Heather Holmes, Susan Naylen Sorell and Kim Canning. Leonard was a farmer all of his life, retiring in 2006 to be a cottage owner at Echo Lake a place he absolutely loved and felt at peace. Leonard proudly belonged and served the Separate School Board for over 35 years. He was one of the founding shareholders of the Weyburn Inland Terminal, a fact that he was extremely proud of. Leonard lived his life as a gentle, kind man, always willing to help his neighbor or friend. Leonards faith in the Lord was demonstrated daily in how he led his life and treated others. He adored his wife, children, and grandchildren. His family was the most important thing in the world to him and he cherished every moment with them. A Celebration of Leonards Life will be held at St. Augustine Church, Wilcox, SK on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Ramon Claro and Rev. Eusebio Tubale officiating. Interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Augustines Roman Catholic Parish, Box 35, Wilcox, SK, S0G 5E0. Special thank yous to Dr. Suri and Cathy, and all those in the Allan Blair Cancer Centre, especially Dr. Kakumanu and Jennifer.
