He is survived by his sister Daphne Thompson; brother Linton Isaac. First and foremost the Law; it was this drive and determination that led to his ultimate appointment as Chief Justice of the Federal Court of Canada by Prime Minister Brian Mulroney in 1991. His appointment was said by then Prime Minister Mulroney to be one of the most important appointments of his nine years as Prime Minister. Whether as an officer of the Court or a private citizen Julius worked tirelessly to strengthen the fabric of Canada and the betterment of the Black community. Julius also had a great love of rare rums, fine food and wine, music, dancing and loved to include his friends and family, which usually meant a party. Julius loved to share his passion for and knowledge of the Law with young people and mentored numerous students and Clerks of the Court, many of whom went on to have successful careers in their own right, which made him very proud. Julius will be missed by many but his legacy will continue on. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting a donation be made to either the Dr. Ali Rajput Endowment for Parkinsons Disease and Movement Disorder Research, 103 Hospital Drive, Saskatoon SK S7N 0W8 or the Wascana Rehabilitation Centre, 2180 23rd Avenue, Regina SK S4S 0A5.
