Obituary of Hanna Ellen Erna Ueberschar

IN LOVING MEMORY OF HANNA UEBERSCHAR 1924 - 2012 Hanna Ellen Erna Ueberschar was born in Memel, Lithuania December 8, 1924 to Erna and Michael Wisnewski. She was predeceased by siblings Eva and Erwin. Hanna was an avid curious student, and loved athletics. Her accomplishments earned her a spot at medical school in Berlin, from which she graduated in 1950. Hanna met her future husband Karl Heinz Ueberschar in Berlin. After a short courtship they married on December 15, 1952. As partners, they pursued their careers in earnest, she completing training in pediatrics and he, in radiology. With the Berlin Wall soon to be a reality, they decided their future was outside of Germany. In 1959 they immigrated to Regina. It was a decision they never regretted. Hanna turned from her medical training towards creating a life for her family in Canada. Together she and Heinz established a home in town and eventually, their escape at Sorenson Beach. They became outdoor enthusiasts and also traveled the world together. After Heinz passing in 1995, she spent the winters with her family in Houston. Hannah was a long-time member of Christ Lutheran Church. She loved reading, music, finance, and arguing politics with her son-in-law. She is survived by her daughter Elisabeth; son-in-law Chris; and grandchildren Richard and Irene. Memorial Service will be held at Christ Lutheran Church, 4825 Dewdney Avenue, Regina, SK on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Bob Leeson, presiding. For those so wishing, a donation in memoriam may be made to the Allan Blair Cancer Centre, 204 3775 Pasqua Street, Regina, SK, S4S 6W8.
