Obituary of Dale Edworthy

DALE EDWORTHY July 1, 1947 September 2, 2011 Dale was born in Regina, Saskatchewan, son of Wilfred and Lily Edworthy. He spent his childhood in Ogema amongst his fathers and mothers families. After graduating from Ogema school, he took up a career in accounting in several small towns finally ending up in Regina at the age of 19. He worked for a variety of businesses before joining Frame and Wheel, his employer of more than 20 years. Dale met the love of his life, Corinne, in 1981 whom he married in 2002. Fulfilling a dream in 1985, Dale and Corinne purchased property near White City. Over the next 26 years they took barren wasteland and turned it into an oasis, a home which would become a special place for visits from family and friends. In 1992 Dale became a grandfather, passing on his knowledge and wisdom with great patience to his four grandchildren. A child at heart, he always had time for laughter and horseplay. Dale accepted his diagnosis of Stage IV cancer with dignity and the resolve to fight the battle to cherish every precious moment with those he loved. Dale passed peacefully with his wife and sister Gerri by his side. He was loved and respected as a son, brother, nephew, cousin, uncle, husband, father, grandfather, friend and colleague. Dale remains an inspiration to us all and a hero to his grandchildren. Dale was predeceased by stepson John Bouskill (1982), parents Wilfred Edworthy (1994) and Lily Edworthy (1999). He is survived by his wife Corinne Edworthy; stepson Ted (Dawn Lindsay) Bouskill, grandsons Daly and Max; stepdaughter Lorrie (Joe) Deutscher, granddaughter Julianna and grandson Karl; sister Gerri (Richard) Gemmell of New Zealand; nephew Andrew (Tania) Gemmell and children Richie and Greer, niece Danielle Gemmell (Shane Taylor) and children Luca and Lyla Gemmell-Taylor as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. A Memorial Service to Celebrate Dales life will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park.
