Obituary of Edith Lorraine Steffenson

EDITH LORRAINE STEFFENSON

“LORRAINE”

Lorraine passed away January 26, 2018 at the age of 95 years.  She will be missed by her children Murray and Lois, her sister Muriel McKaig, sister-in-law Margaret Steffenson, and nieces and nephews. Lorraine was predeceased by her husband Ernest, brother Howard (and Gertrude) Elstad, sisters Gertrude (and Ernie) Suffesick, Ethel (and Raymond) Hill, Winnifred (and Art) Pickering, brothers-in-law, Maurice McKaig, Hardy Steffenson, Allan (and Alma) Steffenson, and sister-in-law Lill (and Les) Hanson, and niece Betty Pickering.

Lorraine was born on a farm near Sintaluta, SK and lived in a number of communities over her life time.  She attended school in Sintaluta, worked in a bakery with her Uncle Louie in Regina, joined the air force living in various locations along the west coast including Sea Island, trained and worked as a registered nurse at Saskatoon City Hospital, and married and raised a family on their family farm near Leroy, SK.  When Ernest’s health was deteriorating, they moved to Regina for better access to health care.

A year and a half ago Lorraine was requiring additional care and moved from her home into Parkview Villa.  The residents and staff became a second family.  Thank you so much to Dr. Pervaiz and nurse Dayu for the specialized care provided.  A heart felt thank you to those who gave thoughtful and loving care to Lorraine on a daily basis - Alena, Ana, Beth, Florinda, Gail, Jeana, Mutcho, and Violeta.

Respecting Lorraine’s wishes there will be no funeral. A Memorial Tea will be held at Speers Family Centre, 2333 Cornwall Street, Regina, SK on Sunday, February 4, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
