Constance Thelma (Connie) Scott, of Regina, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 12, 2020, after a long battle with cancer. She was 84 years of age. Connie was predeceased by her parents Jack and Eunice White, brother and sister-in-law Bruce and Loraine White, brother-in-law Dan Klippenstein, son Brent Scott, and grandsons Joel Scott and Grahame Scott. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Doug Scott and Sandy Crighton, granddaughter Stephanie Scott (Jon Stack), grandson Josh Borys, great granddaughter Isla Stack, sister Joan Klippenstein, brother Barry White (Barb), long-time family friend Lorna Loftus, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Connie was born in 1936 in Moose Jaw and raised on a farm in the Mossbank area (Bishopric), the oldest of four children. She was a top-notch student and valedictorian for her graduating class. In 1954 she moved to Regina to take a job at the Co-operative Creamery, where she worked until 1960. In Regina she met Herb Scott, whom she married in 1958. In 1960, she left the workforce to raise a family. Creating a good home for Herb and their two boys would remain her main focus of attention until 1977 when she re-entered the workforce. She worked for the provincial government, first in the Provincial Library and later in the Vital Statistics area of Saskatchewan Health, until she retired in 2001.

Connie will be best remembered for her kindness and her faith. Growing up, her boys often heard their Mom remind them that “It is nice to be important, but more important to be nice” – words she lived by. Connie was constantly looking for opportunities to lend a hand and kept an eye out for those who needed a kind word or a little extra encouragement. She chose to see the best in people and was tenacious in her support for those who needed it. Connie was an active member of Heritage (Hillsdale) Alliance Church and the Regina Christian Women’s Association. She had a wide circle of friends, a busy social calendar, and was always on the go. Her family complained that it was nearly impossible to speak to her by telephone because she was either “out and about” or already on the phone talking to someone else.

Connie especially loved children, and they loved her. She eagerly volunteered for childcare duty at her church and often helped young families with their childcare needs. She loved being a grandma and great grandma, and cultivated special relationships with each of her grandchildren. Auntie Connie also had a special bond with her great niece and nephew, Sydney and Jack Klippenstein, whom she babysat regularly with her sister Joan for nearly a decade. Connie was thrilled to meet her great granddaughter, Isla, and to be able to share Isla’s first Christmas in Vancouver last year.

Connie’s family would like to thank the exceptional staff and residents at Selo Gardens Personal Care Home for giving her such a caring home over the past seven months. Thanks also go to the staff of Ward 3D at the Pasqua Hospital for ensuring Connie was kept comfortable in her final days.

A private graveside service will be held at Sunset Cemetery, just south of Moose Jaw on September 11, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. Those wishing to join virtually can click on the livestream link at the top of Connie’s Tribute Page at www.speersfuneralchapel.com
