Obituary of Betty Johnston Millar

Betty Johnston Millar July 7, 1922 September 15, 2010 It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Betty Millar while visiting her cherished children in Calgary. Betty was born in Glasgow Scotland and was married after WWII to Richard Millar (deceased 1988). Betty and Dick settled into Regina in 1946 and remained to raise a family and retire. She is survived by her two children, Bruce Millar of Nanaimo and Marcia McNeil of Calgary and by her five grandchildren, Sheil and Sean Millar, Allison, Callum and Trent McNeil, and two great grandchildren, Ava and Owen. Betty remained proud of her Scottish heritage, was an equally proud member of the Canadian War Brides Association, and regaled the family regularly with tales of her early life in Scotland. Betty and Dick enjoyed an active social life and formed lifelong bonds to many friends at the Disabled Veterans Association and the Royal Canadian Legion. Summers were especially memorable for the carefree times enjoyed by family and friends at Regina Beach from 1955 to 2004. Betty was a born entertainer with ability to chat and entertain to one and all. She leaves the world a quieter place and will be dearly missed by family and many friends. A Memorial Service to celebrate Betty's life will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue at 12:00 PM, Tuesday, September 28th. A reception will follow at the Royal Canadian Legion, 1820 Cornwall Street, at 2:00 PM.
