Obituary of Vernon Ritchie Highet

Vernon was born on September 26, 1959 and passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 20, 2020 at the age of 60 years. He was predeceased by his father Ronald in 2014; grandparents, Leslie and Agnes Wetherell and John and Gertrude Highet; aunts, Marilyn Cooney, Phyllis (William) Julyan, Terry Highet and Jeanette Probert; and uncles, Wilfred Highet and William (Phyllis) Highet. Vernon is survived by his mother Louise; sister Cheryl; brother Neil; nieces, Shannon and Lee-Anna as well as numerous cousins. Vernon grew up in Grand Coulee, SK. where he attended school as well as in Regina and Moose Jaw. He always had an upbeat and positive attitude. Vernon loved his cats and watching football and hockey. He also had a passion for building and programming computers, music, drag racing, automotive mechanics, and sport cars, especially his Corvette. His family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of the MICU at the Regina General Hospital for taking great care of Vernon during his final days. He was a special and cherished gift to us from God who is most beloved and will be forever missed. A Memorial Service will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Friday, August 28, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, seating will be limited. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park. Family and friends so wishing, may make a memorial donation in Vernon’s name to a charity of choice.
