Obituary of Anthony Floros

FLOROS, Anthony

It is with heavy hearts that we announce our beloved father and grandfather Anthony Floros, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2020 at the age of 93 years. He was predeceased by his wife, Elli; daughter, Polly Petrulias (George); parents, Ioannis and Aikaterina; and siblings, Georgia (George), Kiriako (Vasso), Alexandra (Vasilis), Eleni (Gregory), and George (Irene). Anthony is survived by his son, John (Loula); son-in-law, George; brother-in-law, Vasilis; sister-in-law, Irene; grandchildren, Spero, Tony, Maria (Alvaro), Tony, and George; great-grandchild, Alessandro; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Anthony was born on February 15, 1927 in Neochorion, Tripolis, Greece, where he grew up and worked on his family's farm and at the age of 14 he moved to Athens and worked in the grocery business. Anthony, having a natural ability for business, succeeded in purchasing and operating his very own grocery store only four years later at the age of 18. In 1957, Anthony immigrated to Regina, SK, where he met and married his wife Elli and had two children, John and Polly. Throughout the years, Anthony continued with his entrepreneurial spirit, owning and operating a number of businesses, even spending a short time in Sechelt, British Columbia, in the early 70's to partner with his younger brother George in two restaurant ventures. After his short time in Sechelt, Anthony moved back to Regina, where he remained and retired in 1986.

Anthony was a hard-working, humble, and generous man who was always there whenever a friend needed him. He loved his family dearly, always making sure he continued to be a part of each of his grandchildren's lives and spending time with his great-grandchild, Alessandro, who brought immense joy to Anthony every time he would see him.
