Obituary of Mark Stanley Billan
BILLAN, Mark Stanley
Mark passed peacefully from a stroke on September 26, 2020 at the age of 62 years, surrounded by his family. Predeceased by his father, Edward Billan, and special Aunt Edythe Brown. Mark is survived by his mother Dorothy of Red Deer, AB; his daughters with Lorna Billan (Dean Bates), Christy (Nathan Knezacek); Jennifer (Mike Langan); grandchildren Logan and Juliette of Regina; brother Scott (Karen) of Red Deer, AB; nephew Evan; niece Hanna as well as many extended family members. Mark married Lorna in 1980 and raised two beautiful daughters. They enjoyed trips to Arizona and were long-time Rider season ticket holders. Following in his dad’s footsteps, Mark worked in the autobody industry for over two decades. He enjoyed retirement in his final years. Mark was a generous and compassionate spirit. Although he was of humble means, he shared his friendship, his time and ear. He found great support and fellowship with his brothers and sisters in AA and NA. Mark loved people for who they were – often when they were at the most unlovable moments in their lives. He was a trusted friend and confidant. Mark’s health had declined over time and he received a liver transplant in 2008. He endured these health challenges with humility and grace. Thank you to the many health care providers who made these last precious years possible. A special thank you to Sheila Young, Pastor Belinda Leibel and his dear friend Debby Denis who were great supports in his life. If you are struggling, let Mark’s life be an example that everyone deserves a second chance and is worthy of a meaningful life. One day at a time. Due to COVID restrictions, an intimate family gathering will be held.
