Obituary of Margaret Sophie Yeo
Yeo, Margaret Sophie
1922 -2020
On Sunday, September 27, 2020, Margaret passed away in Regina, SK. She was predeceased by her husband George; son Brian; parents Henry and Mary Yung; brothers George, Eddie, Albert, and infant Walter. Margaret is survived by her son Walter (Sharon); five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister Elsie Eisler; brother Henry Yung; and many nieces and nephews. Margaret was born and raised on a farm at Bulyea, SK. She and George, married in April 1945 and together for 45 years, resided in Regina. They were members of St. John’s United Church where Margaret was church secretary for 25 years. Following the closing of St. John’s, Margaret became a member of Rosemont United Church until its closure at which time she rejoined the church of her youth, St. John Lutheran Church in Strasbourg, SK. Outside of her family and church, Margaret’s passion was needlework: quilting, knitting and crocheting. She completed hundreds of quilts, scarves, and sweaters, for family, friends and charitable organizations. For sixty years she annually delivered baby caps to the maternity ward at Regina General Hospital; scarves for school children were another passion with dozens going to schools each fall. Margaret’s family is forever grateful to her faithful friends, Heather and Maureen and to the staff at Bethel Manor Personal Care Home for their loving care of Margaret for the past three years. At a later date, a service will be held at Strasbourg where Margaret will be laid to rest alongside other members of her family.
