Obituary of Dorothea Bernice Langston
LANGSTON, Dorothea Bernice
February 26, 1919 – October 11, 2020
Our beloved mom, Dorothea, left us on Sunday, October 11, 2020, at the age of 101 years. She will live on in each one of us and will be remembered with love by her daughter Joellyn (Leroy) Moser; and son Ken (Pat) Langston. Mom’s granddaughters and great grandchildren were a special part of her life and they have many wonderful memories of times spent with Grandma Dot. She leaves behind Sharlene Taylor; Laura (Chad) Keuler and family, Lucas and Morgan; Danielle Langston (Bob Dowie) and family, Brandon, Kelsey (Scott Pettigrew) and Jenna; Bonnie (Chad) Fenrick and family Teegan and Kolbi; Kim (Brad) Buchan and family Maggie and Ben. Dot was born in Saskatoon, SK and moved to Regina, SK at a young age. Her mom died when she was eight years old and she was raised by her maternal grandparents. Dot’s career began in a law office, followed by the Saskatchewan Government Department of Finance. She moved to Vancouver, BC and worked there while Dad was overseas during the war, returning to Regina after Dad came home. Mom and Dad were active members of the Craig Golf Course, the Callie Curling Club, the Legion and Westminster United Church. Mom was still curling and golfing as well as volunteering at church into her mid 90s. Dot’s home was the hub of family get togethers, hosting Sunday dinners, Boxing Day open houses, backyard barbeques or any reason to celebrate. Mom had a wide circle of friends – it was a rare outing when she didn’t run into someone she knew. Friends and family will always remember Mom’s fun spirit. We are comforted to know that Mom has been reunited with Harold, the love of her life, who passed away in 2001. Thanks to the compassion and care shown to Mom and the family while she was a patient on 4B at the Pasqua Hospital. Dot spent the last week of her life in the company of angels receiving Palliative Care at the Wascana Rehabilitation Centre. They cared for mom and us as if we were their own family. We will never forget their kind and gentle ways and are forever grateful that they were there for us when we needed them most. Due to restrictions in place at this time we will not be holding a Memorial Service but will have a celebration of her life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those so wishing may make a donation to the Hospitals of Regina Foundation, 1874 Scarth St, Regina, SK S4P 4B3.
