Obituary of Wilbert Stanley Herman

Wilbert was born November 26, 1925. He passed peacefully on Monday, October 11, 2010 at Sunset Extendicare surrounded by family. Formerly of the Craven district and more recently of Regina, Wilbert was predeceased by his parents August and Lydia (Kalk), two sisters Lora and Irene, two brothers and their wives Harold and Frieda, Irvin and Phylis, a brother-in-law Jim Louis, and one son-in-law Stuart Nagel. He is lovingly remembered by his wife of almost 57 years Vera (Becker), and his children Holly Nagel of Regina, Harley and Brenda Herman of Craven, Blair and Leslie Herman of Craven, Karen and Lyle Herman of Earl Grey, ten grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, his sisters Corinne and Wilfred Dreger, sisters-in-law Ida Louis, Isabelle and John Knoblauch, and brother-in-law Myron and Valerie Becker. Wilbert successfully farmed for over 50 years in the Craven district and near Eden, Manitoba for six more years. He was one of the first importers of Murray Grey cattle to Canada, serving in the provincial and national Murray Grey associations, promoting the breed. He retired to Regina in 1989. Wilbert and Vera enjoyed travelling. They became snowbirds, going to Arizona and later to a trailer in Texas for the winter. He remained in his own home until the spring of 2010. The Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, October 15, 2010 in Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina with Pastor Lindsay Hognestad officiating. Interment to follow at Longlaketon Cemetery at approximately 2:00 pm. The family would like to thank the staff at Pasqua Hospital 4B and Sunset Extendicare for their care and support during these last months. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Saskatchewan Alzheimers Society, 2550 - 12th Avenue, Ste. 301, Regina, SK, S4P 3X1 would be appreciated.
