Obituary of Ethel Irene Wiebe

It is with great sadness that the family of Ethel Wiebe (nee Blackmore) announces her passing on Friday, October 15, 2010 at the age of 83 years. Ethel was born in Maryfield and grew up on a farm in the Moosomin area. She settled in Regina in 1951 with her dear husband, Bruce Wiebe. Following Bruces passing in 1973, Ethel furthered her education and worked for the Saskatchewan Property Management Corporation until her retirement in 1992. Ethel was a member of the Regina Lioness Club, as well as Wesley United Church. Her volunteer work included many years with the CNIB. Ethel was a loyal Saskatchewan Roughriders fan and enjoyed many hours watching curling and other sports. Mom developed many lasting friendships over the years. We will always remember and appreciate Moms quiet strength, wisdom, sense of optimism and her truly loving and kind nature. She loved her family and her home, where family and friends were always welcome. Ethel will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by her daughters Donna (Tom) Hefter of Calgary, Shirley (Jim) Sturgeon of Vancouver and her son Ken (Cathy) Wiebe of Regina; her beloved grandchildren Dustin, Nola, Taylor and Lindsay Wiebe; siblings Gordon Blackmore of Calgary, Fred (Beth) Blackmore of Red Deer and Mary Lund of Regina; as well as nieces and nephews. Ethels family wishes to thank Lee and Lillian Forsythe and Frank and Nora Dornstauder for their kindness and support over the years. We would also like to acknowledge the loving care and compassion of the staff and caregivers of Helping Hands Bridging Program, as well as the support of the Palliative Homecare team and the exceptional care of the staff of the 3A Palliative Unit at the Pasqua Hospital. At Ethels request, a private service will be held in her memory. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made to the CNIB, 2550 Broad Street, Regina, SK, S4P 3Z4; or the Alzheimers Society of Saskatchewan, 301-2550 12th Avenue, Regina, SK, S4P 3X1 or to a charity of ones choice.
