Obituary of Trevor Donald Harle
Trevor Donald Harle P.Eng.
Trevor Harle was born December 22, 1937, in Goodwater, SK to Daisy and Sydney Harle. The family moved to Fairlight in 1939 and then to Regina in 1941. Trevor attended Connaught School and Central Collegiate, graduating in 1956.
Trevor graduated from the University of Saskatchewan in 1961 with a Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BE). He received his diploma in Business Administration in 1963. He was awarded his P.Eng. (Professional Engineer license) in 1964 from the Association of Professional Engineers of Saskatchewan and became a Life Member in 2015 after 51 years of practice.
A few of his projects with special significance are:
- O.C.N. Government Centre - using ground source heat pumps (1996)
- SED Office Building (Saskatoon) - for which he received the Premiers Award of Excellence for Design
- La Ronge Government Office Building - award for most energy efficient office building
- SaskTel Main Exchange - first fully DDC controlled building in Saskatchewan
Trevor was actively involved in many volunteer services to the community including:

- American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers Inc. (ASHRAE) for over 50 years as a member of the Regina chapter, on the Chapter Board of Governors, the Regional Council and the International Research and Promotion Committee. He received an ASHRAE Life membership.
- Regina Fish and Game League, joining in 1973, he was on the board from 1975 1995 and inducted to the Fish and Game Sports Hall of Fame as a Life Member in 2017.
- He was also Fund Drive Organizer for the Salvation Army for 4 years, Fund Drive Organizer for the Heart & Stoke Foundation for 4 years, Boy Scout leader for more than 20 years, Lumsden Beach Church Camp and condominium boards
He collected stamps from an early age, liked the Big Band sounds, loved fishing, bird and game hunting, curling, dancing, gardening, computers, photography, cross country skiing, genealogy (having traced the Harle family back to the early 1700's), wood working and wine making.
In 1982, with help from friends and relatives, Trevor & Betty constructed their Pasqua Lake home - their principal residence from 1997 to 2007. The only work contracted out was the excavation, basement concrete floor, drywall stippling, and main floor flooring.
Trevor is predeceased by his parents, Sydney (1955) and Daisy (nee Preddy) Harle (1995); sister, Bonnie (2005); and brothers-in-law, Bob Torkelson (2005) and Bob Beesley (2018). Trevor leaves to mourn his loving wife, Betty; his children, Michael, (Crystal), Steven (Carla) and Jennifer (Jim); sister, Gail Beesley; Betty's children, Kathleen (Bob), Tony (Sheila), and Barbara; eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
