Obituary of Gordon Norman Cullen

Sept. 1, 1916 - Oct. 26, 2010 Gordon passed away quietly and peacefully Tuesday morning in Regina. He was predeceased by his wife Cecile in 2004 after 65 years of marriage. Gordon was born September 1, 1916 in Fisherton, Manitoba. He often reminisced about sailing to the U.K., where his father migrated from, to meet his grandfather. His mother Effie originated from Neepawa, Manitoba. He will be affectionately remembered by his four children, Bill (Gerry) of Kamloops, B.C., Betty (Larry) Rausch of Grandview, Man., Norman (Linda) of Winnipeg, Man., and Allan (Joan) of Regina, Sask. He is also missed by 11 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandkids. Gordon, a National Parks warden, started in 1957 in Riding Mountain NP, Manitoba. While at the Fortress of Louisbourg, N.S., 1966-74, he became the first Chief Warden in a national historic park in Canada. He finished his 23 year service when he retired in Yoho NP, B.C. in 1980. Playing the fiddle was one of Gordons greatest enjoyments. He was a member of the BC Old-time Fiddlers, Br#12, Kamloops, BC. Their group played at local dances and community events. His family especially enjoyed gathering around him and even singing along. A private service for the family will be held in Manitoba, at a later date. Should friends desire, donations in lieu of flowers to the Canadian Cancer Society, 685 Victoria St, Kamloops, BC, V2C 2B3, in memory of Gordon, would be appreciated.
