Obituary of Theresa Menear

It is with sadness that the family of Tess Menear announces her passing on Tuesday, November 16, 2010, at Pioneer Village in Regina, at the age of 89. Tess was born in Regina (Sec 10-Twp 16-Rge 19-W2, Saskatchewan, as it was called then) on July 30, 1921 to Michael and Anne (Niesner) Bolen. She worked in a photo lab in Regina until her brief marriage to Norman Menear in 1950 and her move to Toronto, where she lived until 1997. In Toronto (Willowdale) Tess lived as a very independent single woman and worked her entire career as a secretary for an insurance company. During these years she traveled extensively to destinations that included Alaska, England and Australia, often with her sister, Madeline. She had a large group of very supportive friends in Toronto, with whom she enjoyed bowling and especially, golfing. Tess is predeceased by her parents, Michael and Anne; her brothers Michael Mick? Bolen and Peter Bolen; sister Madeline Brill; brother-in-law Hap Brill; nephew Warren Bolen; niece, Donna Tweten; and very recently, her sister-in-law, Betty Bolen, who was her main support in the last many years. She is survived by her sister-in-law Eva Bolen, and her children: Sandra Merk, Beverly Bolen, Ken Bolen, Dale Bolen and Terry Bolen; Madelines son, Neil Brill; and Peter & Bettys children: Verne Bolen, Claudia Krasilowez, Carla Bolen Anderson, Daryl Bolen, Darcy Bolen and Paulette Lashinski, plus numerous great nephews and nieces. A small service of remembrance will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina on Friday, December 3, 2010, at 3:00 p.m. Flowers are gratefully declined in favor of donations to the Alzheimers Society, 2550 12th Avenue, Ste. 301, Regina, SK, S4P 3X1. The family would like to sincerely thank the staff of Pioneer Village, 2 West, for their loving care of Tess for the past many years, and the Wild Rose Care Home, before that. Your dedication to Tess provided her with comfort and dignity in her final years, for which we will be eternally grateful.
