Obituary of Marie Luise Hoffmann
HOFFMANN, MARIE-LUISE
MARIE-LUISE HOFFMANN, age 85, passed away peacefully after a very sudden and short illness caused by pneumonia.
Marie was born in Germany in 1935 to Franz & Erna Welp (Creamers). The eldest of two daughters and one son. She is survived by her brother Werner, her sister Ursula preceded her in death in the early 90’s.
Marie was married to Hans Hoffmann, who preceded her in death in 1981. She is survived by her only son Scott.
Marie grew up in Germany and as a child survived World War 2. She worked for the United Nations in Geneva as a translator in her younger years, among other employment in Germany. Her employment in Canada was with the Grey Nuns Hospital (Pasqua Hospital) in Regina, where she retired as the manager of the Medical Steno Department. She also taught German Grammar School in Regina for many years.
Marie loved to travel, having travelled over most of Europe, Australia and North Africa. She especially enjoyed cruises. While in Egypt she even rode a camel at the Great Pyramid of Kofu! Bucket list covered!
Marie was a very well read and was a lover of anything historical and of a political nature. It was truly a passion! She knew history like no one else, you could always learn from her vast knowledge.
In her later years she moved to Parksville, BC with her good friend and companion Rudy Blaschke. Later she would move to Maple Ridge, BC and then onto Edmonton, Alberta to be closer to her son Scott.
She will be greatly missed and loved by her son Scott, who she was always there for! Thank you, Mom!
I will miss you deeply, but I know that you are in a much better place with all those, who have gone before you and who you have loved eternally.
