Obituary of Elizabeth Christine Schuba

Lisa passed away on Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at the age of 39, now at peace after a courageous battle with cancer. Predeceased by her father, Rudy Kiegerl, Lisa leaves to cherish her memory; her husband, Robert Schuba and their children Jared, Jordan and Sarah; mother Pauline Kiegerl; parents-in-law Fred and Denise Schuba; brother Sean Kiegerl; in-laws Lynn Sanya and niece Jenna; Stacey and Jason Willmets, niece MacKenzie and nephew Matthew; and many other special friends and family. Lisa was born on September 22, 1971 in Avoca, Ireland. At the age of 6 months she immigrated to Canada with her parents. She grew up in Logan Lake, a small mining community in B.C.. Lisa studied at BCIT where she met Robert and earned her Nursing Diploma in 1992. She began nursing in New Westminster, B.C. and soon moved with Robert to Athabasca, Alberta. In 1995 they settled in Regina, married and began their family. Lisa was devoted to her family and cheered on her children in hockey, lacrosse and competitive swimming. Lisa was an athlete herself with a passion for long-distance running, yoga (with friends and wine) and many other sports. She took quiet pride in nursing, completed her Bachelor of Science Nursing degree in 2005 and cared compassionately for many during her career. Lisa touched many lives and will be sadly missed. Lisas family would like to thank the staff at the Pasqua Hospital, and the Allan Blair Cancer Clinic, the hockey and lacrosse communities and the many friends who helped Lisa during this difficult time. A Funeral Mass and Celebration of her Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 20, 2010 in Holy Cross RC Church, 315 Douglas Avenue East, Regina, SK, with Rev. Thomas Nguyen presiding. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lisas memory may be made to the Allan Blair Cancer Centre, 4101 Dewdney Avenue, Regina, SK, S4T 7T1.
