Obituary of Leone Lucille Warren

The family of Leone Lucille Warren wishes to announce her passing the morning of December 3, 2010, at the age of 89 years. Leone was predeceased by her husband Bill in December 1999. Being the youngest of her family she saw the passing of her parents, Clarence and Mamie Brunton, and her sister and brothers: Maurine, Byron, and Bruce. Celebrating her life are her two daughters, Colleen Warren (Wayne Strelioff), and Cheryl Barber. Leone was born on March 23, 1921. Growing up she lived in the Shellbrook area and married Bill Warren, also from Shellbrook, after the war. With Dad working for SaskTel, they lived in many communities in Saskatchewan before settling in Saskatoon to raise their family. Mom always worked part-time but took pride in being home for the girls? when we finished school each day. Until her retirement she ran the cafeteria at Kramer Tractor where her home-cooked meals and deserts were a treat. The summer highlight was the family vacation to Waskesiu and with Dads retirement they spent their summers there socializing with family and friends. In 2006 after a major health scare, Mom moved to Regina and into Wintergreen Estates in order to have the support and security she needed to maintain her independence. It soon became her home? and she enjoyed many of the activities and programs they offered, especially the puzzle table. Special thanks to Greg, Brad, Tony, Donna, Lillian and all those she came to know as friends. Mom had a great sense of humour and was always joking and teasing those around her. From being named after the woman championship roper of Oklahoma City, to burning her wedding dress in the garden with the fall leaves, she always had a good story to tell. Mom was an avid news and sports watcher and ready to debate the issues and stories of the day. She didnt always get the facts and figures right but she enjoyed the discussion and was engaged in life until the day she died. Thank you to Syd for keeping her a part of your life, to Judy for the visits and homemade bread she so enjoyed, and to Wayne for the football game calls and always having to bet against the Riders. There will be a private family interment held in Woodlawn Cemetery, Saskatoon at a later date. A life well lived with style, humour, competence, interest rest now and be remembered with a smile.
