Obituary of Kathleen Zenia Cameron

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Wife, Mother, Sister, Aunty, Grandmother, Friend, and Mentor. Kathleen’s soul left her earthly body to join God on her date of birth; January 24th, 2021.

Kathleen is predeceased by her parents; Alice and Laval Morancie. Sisters; Margo, Cynthia, and Annette. Kathleen is survived by her husband Lionel Cameron, and her children Anthony (Carla), Martin, Michele (Jerrod), and her grandson Zion.

Kathleen is also survived by her brothers; Raphael, John, and Errol. Close friends and family include; Ann Carlisle, Vijay Morancie Robertson, Leslie Ann Morancie, Michael Morancie Robertson, Clarence and Becky Morancie, Carla Cameron, Catherine Liverpool, and Darlene Tincher.

Kathleen was born in La Brea, Trinidad, West Indies. She immigrated to the United Kingdom (Northampton, England), during the late 1960’s, followed by a second move to Winnipeg, Manitoba in the early 1970’s.

Kathleen had an excellent career as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse. Her nursing career started at the St. Andrew’s Hospital in Northampton, England. Upon arrival to Canada, she was forced to upgrade her qualifications for practice in Canada. She attended, and graduated from what was then known as WIAST (Wascana Institute of Applied Arts and Sciences) and had a long career serving others in the capacity of a Registered Psychiatric Nurse at the Regina General Hospital. During her career, she was well respected, and known for her “no-nonsense” approach, and also served as a role model and mentor to her colleagues and the friends that she made and worked with.

Kathleen was a devout Christian who demonstrated her love for the Lord in the way that she treated and helped others. Kathleen was a devoted wife and dedicated mother. She treasured her children and grandson. She worked hard and sacrificed immeasurably in order to allow her children to be successful in their own endeavors. Kathleen had a great sense of humor and was always joking around with her family and friends – especially her grandson Zion. She loved watching the Riders, and her game shows! Kathleen loved spending time in her garden, often growing tomatoes and carrots, and lettuce which were often given away. Equally, she loved her plants - rehabilitating many and giving them loving care. Kathleen will be remembered for many things; she lived her life with faith, grace, dignity, courage, and strength.
