Obituary of Kenneth James Beaton

FRIAR KEN JAMES BEATON February 17, 1927 December 15, 2010 Ken was predeceased by his parents John and Frances (Sherry) Beaton, a brother and a sister. He is survived by his sisters Kay Rankin, Claire Plimley, nephews and nieces and his Franciscan brothers of Christ King Province of Western Canada. Ken, before he joined the friars in 1951, worked at a bank as a teller. He made his simple profession on July 26, 1954 in Vancouver, BC and was admitted to solemn profession on July 27, 1957. During his active years, he served zealously at our friaries in Vancouver BC and Edmonton, AB and at our Retreat Houses in Cochrane AB and Lumsden, SK. He was an avid reader and took long walks to keep healthy. Although he made friends easily, he socialized with a select few. Kens last two and a half years were spent in Dove House as his Alzheimers and cancer took their toll. He was fondly cared for by the management and staff of Dove House. Memorial Services will be held at a later date at St. Michaels Retreat, Lumsden, SK, and also in Vancouver, BC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kens memory to: Dove House, 2220 Cameron Street, Regina, SK, S4T 2V8. To leave an online message of condolence, please visit www.speersfuneralchapel.com
